Etang Sauvage, which translates into English as Wild Lake, is a lovely 8 acre venue with a stunning 2 bedroom holiday home literally on the swim. Situated next to Rennes, less than 1 hour from the nearest ferry port of Saint-Malo, this destination is ideal for those carp anglers looking for extra comfort. This lake is just the perfect destination for your next carp fishing holidays with the family.

Lake Side Holiday Home

On the property there's a stunning 2 bedroom holiday home. From the living room, the kitchen and from the bedrooms you have panoramic views over the lake. The house is literally a few meters from the waters edge. You can enjoy a barbecue with your family & friends and have your rodpod next to you on the terrace ;-)

The holiday home features 2 bedrooms with king size beds, a fully equipped kitchen, dining area with large table for 6 persons, new & clean bathrooms, a living room with sofa, TV and sound system. For your entertainment there is Wifi, a table football table and darts board.

There is also a mobile home with electricity with a bed at the other end of the lake. It doesn't have running water.

Lake & Swims

Etang Sauvage has a total surface of about 8,6 acres (3,5 hectares). There are 3 spacious swims for up to 6 anglers. The venue features many small islands and mature trees and shrubs that surround it. The lake bed descends to a maximum depth of 2m (6-7ft) and consists of gravel, sand and silt.

There's space for one rodpod on the terrace in front of the house. From here you can fish towards the island. At the right of the terrace another rodpod can be placed. There space for a third angler further to the right on a wooden pontoon. This swim is quite challenging because there are 2 trees in the lake about 30 min from the swim.

150 m from the house there's another swim for 1 or 2 anglers with space for a bivvy. From here you can fish the back side of the island situated in front of the holiday home.

Fish Stock at Etang Sauvage

Etang Sauvage is stocked with around 300 carp. The owner estimates there are around 20 fish between 15 and 20kg (35-45lb) and about 5 fish over 45lb. The largest fish is a 25kg (55lb) mirror. They are fed during the colder winter months on a regular basis with an automatic fish feeder, which guarantees a solid yearly growth.

There are 4 sturgeon (up to 33lb) and other fish species including pike and roach. There's no poisson chat, but there is crayfish. The owner keeps their numbers down with traps, but make sure you take some mesh to protect your baits (especially in summer).

Ferry Ports & shops

The closest ferry ports are Saint Malo (77 km) and Caen (200 km). If you travel via Calais, there's a 5h drive in France to the lake.

In a 5 minute range around the lake there's the Golf course BlueGreen Rennes, a McDonnald's and several local restaurants, Carrefour supermarket, a bakery.

Nearest Tackle Shop

There are two tackle shops near Etang Sauvage in case you need to buy bait or some end tackle for example. « Le Coin du Pêcheur » is at 10 minutes (8km) in Vezin le Coquet and « Alcedo » is another tackle shop in the same shopping centre.

Must see in the area

The city centre of Rennes - capital city of Brittany - is only 10 km from the lake. It's known for its medieval half-timbered houses and grand Rennes Cathedral. Don't miss the Parc du Thabor and its rose garden, the Musée des Beaux-arts with works by Botticelli, Rubens and Picasso. The Champs Libres cultural center houses the Musée de Bretagne (Brittany Museum) and Espace des Sciences, featuring a planetarium.

There's a rowing boat available for the guests. Optionally, on site you can rent an e-motor with battery for 75€ per week.
