Etang de la Basse Roussière (La Basse Roussière)

Escape to the serene heart of the Ille-et-Vilaine countryside at Etang de la Basse Roussière, a premier 10-hectare (25 acres) carp fishing venue. This beautiful lake offers a perfect blend of a well-stocked fishery and top-tier comfort, centred around a beautifully renovated 8-person holiday home. Designed for both dedicated angling sessions and relaxing family holidays, La Basse Roussière promises an unforgettable French fishing experience.

Lake

Spanning 10 hectares (25 acres), La Basse Roussière is a mature and scenic lake with depths reaching up to 3.5 meters (11 feet). The lakebed is largely free of major snags and obstacles, making it an ideal venue for anglers of all experience levels. The well-defined, spacious swims - 6 in total - are thoughtfully positioned to provide ample fishing room for the maximum of 14 anglers.

The holiday home has two double swims included: one large double swim in front and another double swim (F) on the right. Swims D and E can only be reached by boat. On the car park next to swim A, two rowing boats are available to go to swims D and E. Guests can bring an e-motor. Swims A, B, C and the holiday home have all car access. Swims A, B and F have electricity on the swim. Each swims is equipped with a barbecue.

There's no weed formation at La Basse Roussière.

The Carp Stock

The lake holds a substantial and healthy population of approximately 650 carp, ensuring regular action throughout your stay. The stock boasts a impressive average weight of 12kg (26lb). The current lake record is a magnificent 27kg (60lb) mirror carp, the biggest common carp is 26kg (57lb). With a stock this strong, every take could be the fish of a lifetime.

The clear waters are also home to tench, zander, pike and perch, adding to the diversity of the fishery. There's no poisson chat nor crayfish.

The Holiday Home

The renovated 8-person holiday home is the perfect base for your trip. It features a fully-equipped kitchen, a comfortable living room, and a dining area for the whole group. Practical amenities like a washing machine and tumble dryer are included for your convenience. One of its standout features is the large double swim, which allows you to fish directly in front of your accommodation, blending a relaxing holiday with an unbeatable fishing opportunity.

Facilities

For anglers not staying in the holiday home, or for those fishing in the swims, correct facilities are never far away. A clean dry toilet and shower block is conveniently located between swims A and B, ensuring you can stay fresh and comfortable throughout your session. Furthermore, the entire venue is equipped with WiFi, allowing you to stay connected if you wish.

There are dry toilets close to swims D and E.

There is a small supermarket in the village of Saint-Aubin-du-Cormier, 5 km from the lake. The village of Liffré, with several supermarkets, fast food restaurants, petrol stations, etc., is 14 km away.

The capital of Brittany, Rennes, is 30 minutes from Etang de la Basse Roussière. It is known for its medieval half-timbered houses and Rennes Cathedral. Rennes-Saint-Jacques Airport is located south-west of the city.
