Lac Paul
Recy, Northern FranceLake Description
Less than 3 hours from Calais, lies Lac Paul, a 10 acre (4 hectares) carp fishing lake for up to four anglers. Like many other venues in the Champagne region, Lac Paul is an old gravel pit with depths varying from 2 to 6 metres. The new owner, a young enthusiastic French carp angler, wants to market his water in cooperation with Fisherman Holidays in 2022. The property is clean, it radiates tranquillity and everything is in good order. The carp stock is largely unknown, but is estimated at around 160 fish. The biggest fish so far weighed 25kg (55lb). Lac Paul is a great lake for carp anglers who would like to have a whole lake at their disposal, all not too far from home.
The Lake
Lac Paul is one of the many old gravel pit near the river Marne. The depths range from 2 to 6 metres. The bottom consists of gravel, sand and silt. On arrival, we recommend that you find the hard and soft spots first and then start fishing.
In the summer months there is weed formation. There is poisson chat and crayfish.
The Stock
The carp stock has not been fully mapped yet, as there was almost no fishing on this water. The new owner and carp anglers from the neighbourhood have fished this water and caught nice fish with some carp up to 25 kg. Our own test team caught carp between 11kg (25lb) and 15kg (35lb); they were pleasantly surprised by the venue.
The owner estimates the stock to be around 160 large carp. There are 2 large catfish over 2 metres to keep the number of smaller fish down.
Own boats and baitboats may be used.
The swims
Lac Paul has 2 comfortable swims that are close together. The unique shape of the water allows each angler to fish a different part of the water without disturbing the other. There is a lot of space on the swims. The bivvies can be set up directly behind the swims on the lawn. The intention is to only rent out this water exclusively. The water is ideal for a group of 2 to 4 anglers who want to have a social.
Sanitary facilities and service
Behind the swims is a wooden building with all sanitary facilities, such as sink, toilet and shower. Electricity is generated by solar panels and stored in a battery, so it is enough to charge your batteries, but you cannot run a fridge on it.
Bait boats & boats are allowed.
Dogs are allowed. The supermarket is 15 minutes from the lake and in the village Matougues there is a comfortable hotel with an excellent restaurant Auberge des Moissons.
Paul sells cooked particles for 20€ for 25kg Particle mix. Please order a couple of days in advance to prepare the particles. He speaks French and English.
